What to do if you only have a limited budget when traveling to Kenya

There are many ways to save money on your trip to Kenya airways booking.

Flight:

To get cheap flights to Kenya, you need to travel out of season. You can save over $200 compared to peak season travel. The high tourist season in Kenya is between January and February and June and September.

If you take a direct flight, you can also save on airfare. For example, if you are traveling from the UK, you can travel with Qatar, Ethiopian or Emirates Airlines. They take longer because you have at least one stop, but are usually cheaper. British Airways and Kenya Airways fly direct to Kenya from London Heathrow or Gatwick. In most cases they are more expensive, but you can still get a good deal by ordering early.

Accommodation:

It’s easy to save on accommodation in Kenya. Instead of booking your stay at a hotel, you can choose to stay at a hostel or choose to live with a host family. Hostels like YMCA, YWCA, and Nairobi Youth Hostel offer cheap rates – from as low as $10 per night.

Homestays have become the best choice for budget trips in Kenya. Here you can stay with a real Kenyan family and experience Kenya from a Kenyan perspective. Homestays usually cost around $14 per night, including all meals and basic laundry.

For the more adventurous, camping is also a good option. If you have camping gear, it’s only $5 per night. Some campgrounds rent mattresses and sheets for about $3 per night.

Kenyan Food:

Food in Kenya is usually cheap! You can choose to eat at fast food outlets or local restaurants. They will be much cheaper than eating in exotic restaurants or hotels. If you’re going on a safari, it might be worth visiting a supermarket at the start of your trip and doing some shopping. This can include fresh fruit, juice, bottled water, sandwiches, chips and the like.

Getting all three of these areas right can likely save you over $500 on your trip to Kenya.
